Icaros Desktop is a pre-configured AROS desktop environment for the PC platform, distributed on a bootable live media. The AROS Research Operating System is a open source lightweight, efficient and flexible desktop operating system, aiming at being compatible with AmigaOS 3.1 at the API level, while improving on it in many areas.

Italian users who can't access the Internet with a broadband connection, now have the chance to try Icaros Desktop without downloading it. All they have to do is reaching the nearest newsstand and buy issue 120 of Linux Pro magazine, which include Icaros Desktop Live! v1.4.4 on its covermounted DVD ROM. You may have noticed that version 1.4.4 has never been released on this website: it is very similar to version 1.4.5, even AROS M68K is already functional. Linux Pro has already talked about Icaros Desktop in issue 119, publishing a roundup between 5 alternative operating system and giving Icaros a fairly good evaluation of 3 stars out of 5. Linux Pro team really deserves our thanks for all the fish...
